Assembly

Assembly of the LaptopEasel Ergonomic Laptop Stand is very simple.

The inter-locking design allows the LaptopEasel to be assembled or dismantled in less than a minute. There are no bolts, clips, screws or glues.

The pictures and captions below explain the assembly. There's also a short movie (2.4 MB, MPG format, 1 minute duration) which shows how it's done, and these instructions can be downloaded for printing (PDF format, 170 kB).

2. Insert the base all the way through the back.

All the pieces are reversible so there's no wrong-way-round (except the pivot - see below).

3. Insert the pivot up through the base and push it back so it sits in place.

Note the correct orientation of the pivot.

4. Place the adjustment wheel over the pivot, ensuring that the pivot remains sitting back in its correct place.

The pivot should protrude above the adjustment wheel as shown above.

Ensure that the base remains all the way through the back, up to the stops.

5. Slot the spine into the back and through the slot in the base, then tilt the back/spine until the spine rests against the adjustment wheel.

Ensure that the base remains all the way through the back, up to the stops.

Note: The spine can go in either way. Put it in 'thick-end-down' (as shown above) for the more upright range of tilt adjustment and 'thin-end-down' for the 'laid back' range. Start with the spine 'thick-end-down' and only switch to 'thin-end-down' if you cannot get the stand low enough for your liking.

6. Insert the shelf into the back, in any one of the three height positions.

Ensure the shelf is firmly home.

7. Nearly done.

Using your laptop as a guide, position the self-adhesive rubber pads on the shelf, so they support the far corners of the laptop. This will ensure that the laptop sits stable. Once you have determined the correct position for the pads, stick them in place with the self-adhesive.

Place your laptop on the LaptopEasel, ensuring that it's flat against the back and sitting evenly on the rubber pads.

Adjust the tilt to your satisfaction by rotating the adjustment wheel. Take the weight off the back/spine while doing this.

You can adjust the tilt with your laptop in place.

After any adjustment, ensure that the base remains all the way through the back, up to the stops.

Tip: To keep things tidy, route your mouse, keyboard and other cables through the hole in the spine.
